Projectification on the Way -- Project-Based Organizations -- Human Resource Management in Context -- Reframing HRM: The HR Quadriad -- Line Managers in the HR Quadriad -- Project Managers in HRM -- Project workers in project-based firms -- HR Specialists in project-based organizations -- Comparisons and Contrasts --.
€ What happens to people and management when more and more work is carried out in projects? This is the overall theme of this book which is based on an investigation into a range of engineering and R&D intensive companies. The authors introduce a model of human resource management (HRM) where the HR quadriad is key. This model builds on the idea that HRM is carried out as an interplay between four actors in the organization, namely the line manager, the project manager, the individual worker, and the HR specialist. Accordingly, it seeks to identify the major challenges for each of these players and reports how some of the world's leading companies have responded to these challenges.
