Providing an extensive reassessment of dominant and recurring themes in Ballard's writing, including historical violence, pornography, post 9/11 politics, and urban space, it also engages with Ballard's 'late' modernism; his experimentation with style and form; and his sustained interests in psychology and psychopathology. The volume addresses the full range of Ballard's writing, including his early science fiction stories, his experiments with 'condensed novels', his 'urban disaster' trilogy (including Crash), his autobiographical fictions, his late critiques of globalized capitalism, and his extensive non-fictional output of essays and reviews.
